My brother made fun of me because he found out i still have videotapes and a VCR. I have a DVD player, too, but whats wrong with a VCR? does anyone else still have one?

We use ours everyday and actually, I prefer it over DVDs. While DVD's are compact and save shelf space, they are not superior by any means.
I cannot tell you how many times we have rented even a newer releases from the video store only to have them either freeze up or skip a segment entirely. And yes, I do clean them off before I put them in my DVD player. Several times we have gotten videos that wouldn't play at all. The video store has always been good about giving us credit or checking out another DVD, but it really bites when you are watching a movie, getting really into, then miss an entire section.
I have video tapes that are 20 years old that play with no problems and have never had the problem, even with old rental tapes of old popular movies that I have had with DVDs. If I could keep only one, by VHS player or my DVD player, I assure you it would be the DVD player that would go.

yes, i still have a VCR. I had to buy a DVD player because blockbuster stopped renting VHS tapes. That was an irritant, let me tell you.
Your brother is the one who should be laughed at. He is so weak minded that he had to follow what society told him to do. You, on the other hand, were the strong one who rebelled against society and kept your VCR. More power to you!

I have a vcr and I use it more then I do my dvd player and I have two of them I don't know why

I do. I still have hundereds of movies on VHS. What am I supposed to do, throw them away? I have a DVD player and use it for all the new movies.

I still have a VCR. I would use it, if only my dad hadn't disconnected it.
