You can set up a Geo-Cities page easily if you pay a few dollars for the type of membership beyond just free. But first ask them if you will have control over the protocol.

It would just take a few minutes to ask them, the pages are relatively easy to make and very expandable (that is developpers are coming up with new, easy little gadgets and interesting animations all the time, all of which you can get for free.)

You can't get your own domain name (ie: www.myname.com) for free. You have to register it and pay the relevant fees for however long you want to have it for.

Domain name registration isn't expensive. Just bear in mind that most if not all the catchy sounding ones have been taken, so be creative with what you want to go for.

Also, the service providers that you choose to host your website may charge additional fees for forwarding to your domain name. Each hosting service provider differs so shop around.

I would go the monster way as well.
Just don't put any confidential info on to it. I saw someones CV online a couple of years ago and they had put their national insurance number onto it.

A sure fire way of someone stealing your identity.
