I agree. That's something that bugs me too when people refer to "they" or "them" or some unknown entity to justify or support an argument.
I always ask: who are "they"? Most of the time, people actually don't know who "they" are. lol Funny really.

There is an advert for a credit company in the UK and it was talking to a group called they, still don't know who they are
