Have the FA and the top flight Premiership clubs given any thought about the future picking of home grown players for a new England Team getting anywhere in the 2010 World Cup as the majority of players now will no longr be at their peak, or too old.

Or will such home grown talent have to come from the lower leagues to compensate the growing increase of overseas talent that presently thwarts any chance of a English player from coming through the ranks to be rated good enough to wear an England Shirt.

Lastly; wasn't it stated that by a set date every club should have at least 5 home grown players in their individual team, if so why isnt this being taken as gospel?

Because Team's like Arsenal for instance dont care about English football. It's wrong to allow this to go on simply because it's not doing English soccer any favour's. The like's of Arsen Wenger and other's are not bothered about the English footy team, there only bothered about their premiership teams. They should all take a leaf out of Westham United's book...they have their own academy and have produced top English star's from it. The FA should defnitaly act now to decrease the number of foreign player's playing for each team.

England has some players that have the 2010 world cup in their sights. Rooney and Wallcott will be closer to their peaks and England will demand superb performances from them in every game. Gerrard and Terry can squeeze in another World Cup. Ashley and Joe Cole will also be a good force. Many English players are developing in West Ham United. Ashton, Harewood, Anton Ferdinand etc... would be ready for the next world cup.

You are right, the FA will need to put a restriction of foreign players playing in the Premiership, especially in top clubs. At least 5 British players in each team, looks fair.

England's chances will shrink unless the FA react.

Italy have a league full of foreign players and they have just won the world cup!

It is frequently argued that the presence of lots of foreign players makes it difficult for English players to break into the first teams of premier league clubs. However, it could also be argued that the foreign players increases the standard of play in the domestic English game and makes our best players better.

Remember how dreadful the English game was in the dark days following the Heysel disaster, when English clubs were banned from European competition and top players from abroad would not consider playing in England. It was during this time that England struggled to even qualify for the world cup and Wimbledon were one of the best teams in England. Little wonder that English football fell behind the rest of the world during that period.

there a few players that will be closer to their peak at the next world cup. theo willcot wasnt played but at southampton he was a class player, aaron lennon has showed some of what he can do with his electric pace and no fear the same on the left with stuart downing, finaly a left sided player for england, joe cole is a good player but he is not naturaly a left sided player he is more effective in the middle or right.defenders such as curtis davies and aton ferdinand are improving all the time to strengthen the back. upfront wayne rooney is only going to improve and if he keeps his temper down will improve daren bent is improving so many players will break in, if they get realy desperate theres always gary o'neil and matt taylor at pompey, dont worry new players will come through.

Simple, West Ham United, something like 70% of the squad is English. Plus Anton Ferdinand, Reo-Coker, Etherington, Ashton, Carlton Cole, Konchesky and Harewood are all in close contention right now and except Konchesky and Harewood there all in their early 20's.

Plus, the Championship groomes the rest from the likes of Man United, Tottenham and Arsenal. Till there ready for the Premier League.

it wont there is no room for home grown talent in football at the present time , all teams in the premiership just buy them in , i think Chelsea started it and the trend has carried on from there .
we might not even get to the next world cup cause Rooney cant play all 11 places and hes the only one that's young enough from the 2006 squad !!

with respect to you, i want to say that England never(at least in new future) can be successful in world cup, why? you mentioned it, and i also think in other countries like Germany or italy and even in some african countries, there are more talented players, they'll take the place of england, and england can't compete with them, roony is the only star in england after beckhom which can be count on.
