I got married in a red saree so I have very positive associations with that garment! I think sarees are beautiful to look at and very comfortable to wear (you can eat as much as you want and no-one can tell!). I also attended a friend's wedding in Ireland in a wonderful pink silk saree - that raised a few eyebrows amongst the protestant congregation in the church we attended!
P.S. I'm not from India and am a white woman in my 40s.

I have never considered this question before but I suppose I might think "there is a woman in a sari". What else?

Is she a brain surgeon? (just kidding)
Actually I think the "sari" is one of the most beautiful and unique traditional dresses for the female form - feminine, graceful, patrician, seductive, modest, classy, classic.
I thought my dentist looked patrician yet pleasing; and the lady serving me tea at a roadside eatery looked equally pleasant.
