the answer: every mirror has a death point,if you look at a mirror at an angle of the death point the mirror gets dark.this angle is about 31.4 degrees!
of course thats not the answer!
he simple sees the mirror!
because he has good eyes!
he can see himself when he looks at a stone!
and sees the mirror if he looks at the mirror!

He's on the opposite side of the room. The mirror is in the left corner and he is in the right, so he can't see himself, but he can still see the mirror.

Well, the simple answer is that he's not in the line of reflection. You can look in a mirror and not see yourself (think of looking in a rear view mirror in a car).

he's looking at the mirror not in the mirror is the answer you expect, but i think he's in another place and time past present or future it's called scrying and mystics have used this method for centuries as a means of divination.

he's either looking at the back of the mirror.. or looking at it from an angle.. or it's to dark to see anything..

because your weird..and he doesnt know, or is confused about who he really is inside so when he looks in the mirror he sees someone else ( not a different face) not himself. i guess he needs to find himself?

Because he's not looking at himself... he's looking at the mirror. All he can see is a reflexion.
