At the moment, there is a competition for the "Rising Stars of Manga" at Tokyopop (biggest company for manga in the western world) all you have to do is send in 15 to 20 pages of an original comic story of your own using the style of manga.

Look at sources for info.

What about doing some single frame drawings and printing them on tee shirts, for sale at festivals, gatherings of comic collectors etc? There is always the web of course, if your drawings are "science fiction", Strange Horizons publish some illustrations. I should use Google Advance, searching on "publish" and the phrase,"Manga Drawings" Goodluck and keep going, there is always room for new talent.

Try drawing some strips and send them to publishers. They do look at portfolios but it is better to show how you handle narative.

Nice pictures.
