Not personally, but a friend's father can leave his body and travel around the house at night! I think it's fascinating, and I have read a lot about it.

No, but people in my family, including myself, suffer from sleep paralysis, which is very close to narcolepsy. In that you have very strange bodily experiences, and sometimes feel like there is a "presence". All of this is well described as the direct physical effect of a sleep disorder, recognised by medical science. I believe this and other sleep disorders are more common than most people imagine and many "alien abductions" and other experiences are closely connected with these. Once you have learned to recognise that you have sleep paralysis, (you wake up but cannot move/speak) you can organise your life so that you do not experience it. This is by doing sleep hygene generally, not sleeping in etc.
I think if you follow a physical, rather than a "spooky" explanation, you will understand your condition and learn to live with it. Try googling "narcolepsy" and looking for a reputable web site. There are only too many "spooky" ones around, since no one really monitors the Web.

when i was 10 i had a dream where i was flying around to a friends house and we went out to fly the local area together. The following day i spoke to my friend and he had the same dream. We spoke to our then religious studies teacher and he said that we had experienced astral projection.
Kind of freaky since we lived about 300 yards away from each other as the crow (or the human spirit) flies.

Frequently, after a good session on gin, I find myself unexpectedly arriving in places without knowing how I got there. I usually wake at 4 in the morning, slumped in an armchair .... !
I put this down to astral projection, as I have a perfectly good bed,

Astral projection is something only the young can do, they are open enough to believe, but as you grow older you loose the magic of youth.

Strange, I haven't thought about that in a long time. Perhaps you lose the ability as you age. Or maybe, when we are young we have more imagination?
