Hi Daisy-Rose,
I haven't lived in the UK, but visited several times, have friends in the UK, read the papers and so. I live in Copenhagen, Denmark. Based on that, here's my best bet:
For the (upper) middle class, Denmark and the UK is comparable. We can have the same quality of life in terms of material goods, access to democratic rights etc. For the 'lower class' it's probably harder in the UK. In spite of cut backs the recent years, you don't see as many REALLY poor people here. If you are unemployed, single parent, etc. social welfare will help you to a better standard of living in Denmark. However, if you are potentially very wealthy, you will be charged heavily in tax, so we don't have (many) extremely rich people here.
Where I live in Copenhagen, there are very many people from other cultures. If you have them 'next door' racism is not that big an issues. In parts of Denmark, where they don't have that many foreigners, racism may be more of a problem. I am sure you know that in the UK too. Mind you, in Denmark people from other parts of the world came here in the second half of 20th century. In the UK you have know different cultures for a long time as part of your colonies. As a general rule I don't think racism is as big an issue as in e.g. Australia. Regarding drinking, we don't have bigger or other problems than in the UK AFAIK. A different pattern perhaps, as we don't have the same pub-culture as you do. Antisocial behavior? I don't think so. Denmark is know the be pretty laid back and liberal. Maybe a little reserved in nature at first (compared to e.g. in the US), but don't mistake this with us being antisocial. Most people here are very good at English.

Taxes are high but transparent unlike UK, where it's just tax after tax after tax.
Quality of everything is far higher, and the only thing you'll really notice is the large number of older cars, and higher number of bicycles about and they have far better public Transport too.
The language is hard to pick up at first especially with local dialects, but don't let that stop you.
They have immigration issues but no worse than here.

It's probably better all round, except if you don't know the language!
But let's face it, apart from the weather at the moment, there aren't any other reasons that we can say 'Britains a good place to live'
oh apart from the HIGH TAX on stuff, the HIGHER pertol prices and the badly organised NHS service!

Danes I'm sure, share the same frustrations that folks from other Scandinavian and European countries have.
Denmark is a beautiful country. The food is excellent, hygience standards are high and seldom do you ever see rubbish or 'gum' on the streets.

It just feels better because they are not as crowded as we are. The main problem with Britain is the large and over crowded cramped cities which makes us feel defensive. try life in a small village and people are friendlier and happier
