If any ASEAN nation attempts to correct the problem, they would be immediately cast as the US. It is a domestic problem and in spite of the brutality, it should remain a domestic problem. Thailand helps to the extent of absorbing refugees, and some flee to other nations but what advantage would ASEAN nations gain by mingling in this problem. The US has set precedents and intervened in other countries, only to have the world find fault. But then too, they would have to do something about Sri Lanka, and there are other unstable areas that need help but it is best if left to the people themselves to solve their own problem. I was in Myanmar about seven months ago and in the cities, the dispute was not very apparent, it is more incountry. It is bad because outside capital is waiting to develop the country and improve their economy.
