Ok I accept that, in the main, this is a fun feature of Yahoo, however some of the questions posed and the corresponding answers are so poorly worded, it appears that a majority of the participants have the literary abilities of a chimp!

Basically, it's just typical of the all round standard of literacy in this county today. Even teachers can't spell a lot of words and when I ask my little grandson to show me his workbooks, the comments left by his teachers, albeit positive, are often spelt wrong. What chance does anyone have?
Having said that, there does appear to be an abundance of thickos around these days who think computer talk and text language is errrr,,, funny... Side splitting, isn't it?

I'm with you all the way. People use text speak a lot, which I don't really understand and they don't use spell check. I know sometimes I have wrote words that don't make sense because I type so quickly and sometimes press another key by mistake, but always use spell check.

Some people are foreign as well so they have bad grammar, that I suppose cannot be helped. Lets just ask people to be more patient.

Perhaps, it's a second language to some. I can tell by their names, their spelling and even from some of the words they use. I agree with you though that more effort is required from them all to at least present a proper question. I don't like seeing stupid questions and wish they could be directly deleted by Yahoo. Some people are just fooling around and some misuse the site.

Because people do not value education today. When I was training to be a teacher I was appalled to see the poor standard of spelling and grammar and that was just the other teachers! It's also lazyness and text speak - why do you think that teenagers are barely comprehensible when they speak? We've no chance with spelling when their parents do not care and the teachers do not know!

No it is no longer desirable. I by no potential supply everyone a ultimate answer in the event that they have undesirable spelling with the aid of the way. human beings do it in specific situations on twist of fate, I continuously "forgive" accidentals. many faculties do coach appropriate spelling it is only that grammar gets intermingled with "chat communicate". English is somewhat plenty a casual language by way of our custom immediately. talk to any English instructor and you will hear the thoughts of woe concerning to the atrocious spelling and grammar that they could desire to establish.

I quite agree. It makes me so angry when I see words spelt incorrectly and punctuation used inappropriately.
People are so lazy and thick nowadays, as they do not use the basics of grammar they were no doubt taught at school.
Have you read Eats Shoots and Leaves and Talk to The Hand by Lynne Truss?

They're either too much in a hurry or they just want to talk in their own language,,, or they could be too lazy. It only takes a second to do a spell check so I really so no excuse of avoiding it.

people just write like they are sending text messages it is easier and quicker. the poor spelling is down to lack of use of the spell check, but as if it matters it is not as if we are being graded on it.
