Serbia (the Republic of Serbia) is in the Balkans (Balkan Peninsula); Eastern Europe north of Greece and west of Albania and the Adriatic Sea. It is a landlocked country, which until June this year was a part of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Serbia and Montenegro. Montenegro ceded from this country, leaving Serbia as the now only remaining country in Yugoslavia, as all other regions have gained their independence previously.
