What is the basic pass and cut play - where should you cut to once youve passed to a man on the outer three point line?

It really depends on how the offense is spacing. You really have to read things. If there's a set play in progress, then this should be simple. If not, watch what your teammates are doing and what the guy is doing who just passed the ball. If he drives right away, you're not going to want to make a sharp cut to clog up the lane. Maybe cut soft and follow for a board, or find an open spot on the exterior in case he needs to kick.

Otherwise, if you see a lane, make a sharp cut to the hoop and maybe lead into it with a stutter step-fake toward another direction to throw off your man. If you don't get the ball on the cut or the lane isn't there, look to set an off-ball screen. The important thing is to keep moving and to continuously watch the spacing so you're not crowding or clumping the offense.

Hope that helps.

Cut towards the basket. The most important thing is to have a quick first step. Also, dont telegraph what youre gonna do. Maybe fake one way and then dart towards the lane.

Go through a screen to get some distance between yourself and your defender, then cut near the paint, get the ball back, and make the close shot.

either cut in front of your man to the basket, or go behind a screen and pop out for a shot.
