Try these,
Cape Verde Islands. A country off the Atlantic coast of Africa. One of my colleagues worked there. It has a very low standard of living, high unemployment and high level of HIV infection.
Timor Leste. Well a lot of people probably have heard of it, it is the only country which can trace its history no further than the 21st century.
Suriname. Smallest country in S. America. It has won an olympic gold medal though, courtesy of a swimmer named Anton Nesty.

Hey, hey, take care there. I am of Lithuanian descendency here in the U.S. and so I have certainly heard of it. No one has yet named Mauritius, the island nation just to the east of Madagascar out in the Indian Ocean all off the coast of Africa. Their flag has four horizonal bars on it - red, blue, yellow, and green.
