Where to start...?
The best gift that I ever received was the time spent by someone who cared about me. This can refer to my parents, my wife, my children, my educators to name a few.
The thing about time that makes it the best gift is one can never get that time back. With money or material gifts, you can always make more money, or spend more money to get these things. So what is special is time, because it can't ever be returned and once spent is gone forever.
Even with love, it can be given, but it can be taken away. Now, don't get me wrong, love can be considered the best gift, as in giving ones heart to another, but that is pure perception by the receipient. You may feel very loved, but are you really as loved as you feel?
In a nut shell my answer is time, especially time from a loved one that enriched your life.
I hope you find my answer thought provoking, but to give a more thorough answer would require more time to reflect.

the best gift hard to say sometimes a gift by an anonymous stranger can be most precious, i got a book recently just outa the blue, and i received the greatest gift of all, my restored faith in god that was somewhat shaken and also im going to be ready for the rapture should it happen in my time, and not be left behind

My sweetheart gave me his heart. He is a poor man with disability and not much financial success but when he gave me his heart it was the most precious gift to me. I have my own company and his gift is something I cannot ever buy for myself and it's value is priceless. It meant so much to me I moved 7000 miles to be with him. Money may be nice to have but can be earned, jewels pretty but they are also easy to come by, cars fast but soon they grow older and tiresome to be traded for newer faster or sleeker cars, but the heart is a rare treasure and for me it is the greatest gift of all.

His heart and i gave him mine.. That was,is and will be the best gift that someone gave to me.. There is nothing better than that truly.. I know he is there when i need him and i know he would do anything for me the same way i would do for him.. Thats really the most amazing gift ^_^

He gave me his heart. But not so I could rule it. But so I could be as happy as I have ever been. Trust him. Have fun whenever I wanted it. And no that he would always be there. And with his heart came the added bonus of a promise. 'he would always care for me. and never leave me'
I still love him today.

the best gift for me was when my fiance told me that she was pregnant with my son. since then that has ranked as the top of my list and always will.
