My ex wants to give our daughters back to me after keeping them for seven years; however, he wants the matter resolved before school starts where he is on Aug 4th; can I do something with out a lawyer's intervention?

you can take them no problem. But do you pay support? If you so you will have to go to court to get that stopped. ( And maybe you can start getting it)

life and children can complicate things in life. I was a single mom for the past 3 years and recently married. I know this comes at an inconvenient time for the girls and you...but your their mom. Hard decisions need to be made and sacrifices. I hope you love your girls enough to say that you do not want them another minute where they are not appreciated. If dad wants them out...you need to open your amrs to them. They must be enduring alot of heartache already...just imagine it. And don't make them feel they have noone that needs them. School is not a critical fix. But bad memories last forever. I hope you make the right choice.

why can't they finish the year and then change schools?

you need to go to a family court in your jurisdiction. explain your situation and they should refer you to a free or cheap lawyer. good luck babe.
