You dont want a deal... just to be shelved... it's their way of holding back compettition for their key investments.
Set up an art instalation... and perform live at the launch... and run a looped projection of the gig thereafter.
Develop a concept / symbolisms which tie into the lyrics of your essence/mission statement track.
Think Theatre.....and tour the installation across Europe.
Apply for Arts Council Grants... and European Funding...match this with Corporate sponsorship.
Do it..organise...be smart..OR hire an Arts sponsorship broker.
Just my spontaneous thoughts. GOOD LUCCCCK

Its not always best to just send a company a demo CD. As often they will get thousands a day and many will land up in the bin with out getting noticed. Write to the company and ask whom is the best person to send a demo to it saves a lot of time wasted CD's. Include a link to your website plus if you have it MySpace with your music on it. Then when they give you an address to send the CD make the whole package eye catching , do not just send a envelope with a CD and a handwritten letter. Make it something that you would like to get. Also make sure before sending that you have copywrite and also registered your music/song with a company like BMI. It covers you as there are a lot of people out there that would steal your song/music if they think its good enough. Also as well as record companies try music publishers as well as many have there foot in the door. But at the end of the day have faith and trust in what you do for every 100 turn downs there is someone willing to listen somewhere.

by your promoter saying hey these guys are worth a fortune and be able to back it up with fan numbers from gigs showing that you will turn them a profit - they dont care if your any good just if uyou'll show a profit, even better if you been selling recording youve made yourselves and can say hey were making a profit but were greedy and want to make more- the key to a record deal is bieng able to sell records, show your a marketable product if your not marketable you wont get a deal and if you get a deal it stops when you stop selling enough records, the music indsustry isnt about music its about business, bieng a musician is about music

Most A&R men will tell you the best way is to create so much hype around your band and generate such a following that they have to come to you! If you want to sign to a label and expect the A&R man to create the hype for your band, then you probably won't get a deal.
To create hype you should take your music out to people. Use all the media we have at our disposal, be it MySpace, official fan sites, email lists, forums, blogs, radio, magazines or newspapers.
Send CDs in for advance review with a well written press release, press shot and release date. Get a radio plugger - many of them will work with you for free at first, with the promise that you'll retain them when you get bigger.
Touring is essential for bands. Support bigger bands. Headline your own smaller gigs. Invite your friends and make sure promoters realise that when you turn up, so does the crowd. Give out free CDs - that should generate loyal fans.
