I was in the same situation that you are in right now. The only advise that i can give you is that go up to him and remind him the agreement that he made before he hired you. I have this impression that Japanese boss/owners pretend to forget about those things. Just make sure that they are in a good mood when you talk to them. Goodluck!!

hey u are really in trouble
Japanese always say everything unclear they look so polite
when they talk with u and thank you with their so friendly face with bending n straight body even they heat u but most of they do not say anything to show their unhappiness , so i mean to communicate with they is such a thing makes people from another country
but now u facing the trouble to ask the money he had promised u ,Japanese always fell pound of their promise so .and if u are come from US or Europe they will like do somethings directly sometime .so u just ask he to increase it and if u are a Asian I ALSO think u should say it directly because it is about money and no matter how much he dad promised u was just so small
