You will never be able to reproduce B. May's sound. The closest thing to his 'hand made' guitar is made by "Guild" and each pickup has "B. May" in 'cursive'.
He and his father built the orginal guitar from wood out of a very, very old 'fire place' mantel and the wood that encased the old fire place.
As far as amps, I know he uses some Voxx combos stacked and who knows what all else. I would guess he uses Marshall stacks, etc. But, I can tell you that that unique sound he gets isn't the result of using a wah-wah turned on and about half way 'down/up'. And to be honest, no one will duplicate his licks with the exact same sound.

He always used Vox valve amps (usually 2 x 12 inch AC30 models) and also a Dallas Arbiter Rangemaster between amp and guitar to help boost the overdrive. Try to use a lot of middle and not much reverb on the amp settings. He didn't use many effects (he had phase taps and on/off switches for each pickup) but sometimes used a Dunlop cry-baby wah, Bel7000 units for delay and Rocktron Intellifex for chorus. I reckon that guitar he made give him a unique sound also though

i remember reading that he played guitar with an old sixpence coin as a pick (plectrum) to get a certain tone - not sure about amps/pedals though!
