The brain. Surprisingly, though the brain is the nerve centre of the human body - obviously - it has no nervous system of its own. It is perfectly possible for surgeons to operate on the human brain using only a local anaesthetic to allow them to cut through the scalp. Strange but true - the brain feels no pain.
Neither hair or nails are 'alive' in the proper sense of the word, nor is dead skin as it sloughs off your heels, elbows etc.

You all are wrong, the Nails and Hair and actaully DEAD skin cells. Thats why the nail and hair it self do not even experiance pain. They grow at the root, so the root is alive, but it does feel pain. As for the answer to your question i am not sure.

EDIT: maybe people are right, hair and nails are not alive at all.
But, pain is caused by nerve cells that are meant to detect pain, and I think they are only located on the exterior of the body, like just under the skin. Anything in the body should be pain-free, with no nerve cells.

HAIR IS NOT ALIVE PEOPLE! the root is the only part alive, the actual hair strand is dead! nails and the brain are alive yet don't feel pain.
