The average baby starts walking between 9 and 17 months old (see sources section below). So, at 11 monhts old, he isn't even *close* to late yet. So my suggestion is...stop worrying!!

Babies learn at their own pace. I know alot of babies that didnt start walking until they were well over a year. Dont fret about it your baby will start to walk and when he does he will be all over the place. My son is 10 months old and he started taking his first steps at 8 1/2 months and he is everywhere getting into everything. Size has nothing to do with it either because my son is a big boy also. My nephew was also a big boy and he didnt start walking till he was 16 months.
You can work with your son by holding his hands and walk around the room with him. You can also buy a walker but dont rely on the walker all the time because they will get use to it and he will want to be in in all the time.

I wouldn't worry about this too much as all tots are different in what age they are able to walk. My daughter was15 months before she took her first steps, and this is quite normal. I know it can be frustrating when people always ask, if they are walking yet, "MY KATEY WAS WALKING AT 9 MONTHS". So what, it isn't a race, they all develop at different rates and maybe your son is more vocal than a lot of other kids his age or quicker to develop other skills, your son will walk so try not to worry. you can't force them, they'll only walk when they are ready to. I wouldn't imagine his size is anything to do with it, maybe he's just not ready. If you are worried at all, why don't you have a chat to your health visitor. enjoy your little one while you can, one day he will be walking out the door with his friends and wonder why you ever worried about such little things that seems so major at the time.

Well my daughter has only just started to crawl about 4 weeks ago. Dont worry about the walking thing, he'll soon be on his feet in no time and you'll be wondering why you asked this question.

Weight & height should never be an issue in a babys life. They are just starting their whole life and the last thing they need is us parents worrying about their weight & height.

The age at which a baby starts walking range between 10 to 18 months, or there abouts. So if your baby doesn't start walking at 12 months, there's no need to worry.

There could be a number of reasons why. His weight could be one of them, the heavier a baby is, the more difficult it becomes for him to coordinate his movements on his feet. Also it takes more muscular strength and conditioning for him to steady himself.

Chances are, he'll get there in his own time.

Speak to your health visitor if you have any more concerns.

Take it easy.

Is he not walking at all, or just not walking on his own? If he is walkin when you hold his hand, then it's OK - you can cheat him into starting off by himself by 1. instead of holding your hand, have him hold a pencil that you hold. 2. When he is used to that, let go of the pencil.

If he isn't walking at all... check it out with your doctor, there may be reasons, although I am not sure if it is really problematic. Usually kids start walking at the first possible age, because their curious - it is easier to move, and their POV is higher than the ground; but I don't think that has no exceptions within standard deviation.

I highly doubt that his weight is the reason. Children all develop and walk at different rates and at one I wouldn't worry yet. Keep encouraging him by holding his hands and helping him walk, but just give it time...he will walk soon. If he hasn't walked by a year and a half then I would start to worry about other issues, but for now just relax and don't worry.

My first son was a complete and utter podge and he walked at 10 months. My second son learned to crawl so didn't walk until he was 13 months. They are all different and you should not worry about it. Believe me, once he is walking around you are going to wonder why you wanted it in the first place!!

no , not really . I've heard of cases when the child starts walking around 3 years . i started walking at 1 year and 8 months . so there's nothing to worry about . if you are really worried try taking him to a pediatrician , but he will tell you the same thing

I was a late walker as a baby. Practice walking with him. Have him grip your finger with his hand and guide him along. It helps to get his legs moving. Gradually, you let go and just keep your hands close in case he starts to fall.

Also, my mom used to run a day care in our house and we had a pretty heavy 2 year old who had trouble walking because of his weight. It could definitely be an issue, so talking to a doctor would help to determine if that's the problem.
