Lots of water, rest and tissue paper.
That and some good old fashioned optimism that you'll get better soon all by yourself.

Lots and lots of water/clear fluids...I currently have a common cold as well and I wasn't really going for the clear fluid thing, but it really does help a lot. Sudafed 12 Hour will help with the congestion and hopefully keep you having to blow your nose every ten seconds. Also try taking a hot shower and blow your nose and "clean it out" of all that snot...sounds gross, but it really does help make you feel cleaner and more "alive" when you get out of the shower! Other than that, just rest and try to not to make yourself work unnecessarily. Hope you get better soon!

There's no sure fire cure for a common cold, BUT I think a lot of people at this time of year think they are having a cold when in actual fact it's hay-fever.
I only started getting it a few years ago - feeling bunged up, sometimes headaches, runny nose, sore eyes etc...
Try taking a antihistamine like Piriton, it's worth a try.

You might not believe this, but make yourself a little home made medicine.......
Peel and top and tail an onion.
Simmer it in about 3/4 pint of water.
Add a clove, cinammon and ginger to your taste.
Let it cool. Remove the onion.
Add honey to sweeten and soothe.
If you don't like the taste (it really tastes quite sweet as it is), then add your favourite squash - blackcurrant high juice is good.
If you have a cough and you're brave, add a couple of drops of tobasco sauce to a dessert-spoon full of your brew.
No drugs, so you can take it as needed.

I have had mine for 3 months continously. nothing seems to help much, including prescribed medicines.
I found a way out though, and it is actually helping. Sit by a bucket full of very hot water, cover your head and let some steam enter.
you will notice a change instantly. I mean, it works for me.

Go to bed, eat a bag of oranges, and drink a bottle of brandy.
It won't make you better, but, believe me, you won't care.
