"Pure" intuition is nothing more than guessing, and will be right about as often as mere guessing is. It seems to people that their intuition is more accurate than that for two reasons:
- We often have real evidence to work with even when we're not aware of it, and that evidence guides us, and
- We are VERY good at noticing our successes and failing to notice our failures. When a person says "My intuition is correct 90% of the time" we should conclude that 90% of the time that person believes he or she is using intuition, that person judges him/herself to be correct. But that's a LONG way from actually having an intuition that is correct 90% of the time that it is used.

Not at all.
People are mistaken when they believe that intuition is always true.
The art of thinking without thinking, of just knowing without researching, is actually a science - well learned by very few.
you must have seen some people making quick and correct decisions in a matter of minutes. They do have intutive abilities.
Its a science, its a complex process.
I recommend the book BLINK, by malcom gladwell to you (might not have got the author;s spelling correct)

Not always, Sometimes you will be wrong, but it's always best to listen to it.
Why?
It's not always that thing that the intuition is concerned about. Things always go in a chain of events and it may have been that chain that your intuition stopped you for.
IE: You have a chance to go to a ball game but your intuition said no. You then go to the game any way and have a great time. So now you are wondering why you felt that way. Then you get home and find that while you were gone your house was robbed.
So going to the game was not why your intuition was trying to stop you...
Always listen to it...

Intuition is usually not very specific, so it cannot be claimed to be always "true" or "false'. As any vague thing that may save lives if you listen to it... it's true reasonably often.
