I love Audrey Hepburn and I adored her in the role of Eliza Doolittle, but I thought she overacted a bit as the flower girl (bite my tongue). However, I thought she played the role amazingly as the Lady she came to be. I heard their was controversy about her singing being dubbed and that she was possibly passed over for the Oscar because of it. Do you know any articles written about this or about how she was critiqued for her acting in that role.

Everybody's singing was dubbed back then, mainly by Marnie Nixon
Wonderful voice). I think the critics liked her, after all the original was played by Julie Andrews and she was not asked to be in the movie. I understand that Rex Harrison gave everyone a hard time during the making of the movie. Marnie Nixon was also the voice of Maria in West Side Story. She dubbed her voice for many famous stars who really could not sing. Hope this helps a bit.
