There are no call centres in Albert Square. Fictional east end traditions dictate that most of the residents work 'on the market', until they go to America, die of Aids or defect to 'The Bill'.

If the characters left school and started another job besides working on the stalls, the likelihood is that they would be working in the city. There then Eastenders would have to be set in the city. So they keep the characters with jobs like working at the allotments and stalls.
I have noticed that bradley is ment to be working in a city, i imagine he is suppose to be a stock broker.. however i have not seen him once do a proper days work. Hes forever with stacey and often filmed in the mid-day time. If i was his boss, he would of been sacked now, for slacking and having too much time off work.

I love this question.
Soaps are great as getting as much action in as they can when they film on location. For example I love it when there is an accident or something and then all of a sudden 10 people from different families for different reasons all need to be in a ward.
I also love the tenuous family links to bring in new characters. This is your long lost nephew who's dad, your half brother once removed just died, (not really he turns up in the next episode too).
So you see they have to work on the stalls, or the cafe, or the corner shop, or the pub to stay in the series.
It's all a load of nonsense really!!
But the question made me laugh.........

the same reason no works outside of the square or goes out for the day beyond the park it's to much hard work or money to film outside the square.
i mean Bradley has a job in the city but you only see him walking backwords and forwards across the square it's pathetic
