I have been recently told i need surgery on my rt. knee for two tears, one on either side of my knee cap. I know recovery time varies but i am more interested in what happens after. Will I have to have a cast? Or just a brace ? Will this haunt me for the rest of my life? ( I am overweight but losing it, will that make a difference) Just things like that. Thanks in advance

Most likely a brace. It most likely will be a weaker knee afterwards. The specific kiind and reason can make the outcome different. Get a second opinion, and ask these questions of your doctor.
