Freedom is an unobtainable Ideal.

NO one is free, You have laws, rules, regulations, guidelines, taxes. fees, licenses, permits, registrations etc. The list goes on and on.

You do not have the freedom to drive a car. You have to take their test and then pay for the license. Then pay for the registration, and the inspection and the insurance.

THEN YOU ARE ALLOWED to drive it providing you don't break their laws or THEY can take away your PRIVILEGES.

You are not free, and have not been free since the time there were two people on this planet.

Why? because as soon as there are two, one will try to dominate the other.

Freedom is something that you hopefully have the opportunity to be born into and if not then freedom needs to be sought out by first asking yourself what do you want to be free from or what do you want to be free to do? Its best to make sure you are free from all things that might be holding you back in reaching your potential, otherwise the question is moot as to looking for freedom to do something. My freedom ends where your civil rights start. 3rd question: Not really, I worry if I missed the chance or if I didnt realize when the freedom was taken away from me. 4th question: The existing systems in this country regarding your freedom are gradually being taken away every day by the present administration. We have forced ourselves into a technological quagmire where we will soon force ourselves voluntarily into slavery under the disguise of convenience, luxury, and efficiency.

Reading the responses here I wonder; Does for example a law against drinking alcohol at a certain age limit your freedom?

Or a law against abortion or prostitution?
Do they take away from your freedom?

In that case 'land of the free' is a relative statement...

freedom is the right and ability to to what you will. limitations on freedom are when they impose on other people freedom. you should never have to fight for your freedom but sometimes violence is the only thing and oppressive party will respond to because they use violence to impose on your freedom. as an American citizen i hold my freedoms as a top priority freedom to say whats on my mind and to voice my opinion against idea that i disagree with.

Freedom is something that most of us take for granted.

Freedom must come with responsibility, just because I can drive, doesn't mean I can drive recklessly, for example.
