Many men have a greater sexual need than can be met by a lover. He most likely enjoys sex with you and in fact probably prefers sex with more than masturbation. However, masturbation is a form of sexual release that men enjoy. If you want to have sex with your boyfriend everytime he seeks relief tell him that and then be available at his convenience. Also, sometimes men enjoy just a quickie they want to ejaculate in a few minutes and then move on to other things. When you have sex with a partner it takes more time and consideration than a man may want to take at that moment.

That depends on your definition of a good sex life. Young men especially want sex very often, and depending on how often you two engage, it may not be sufficient for his wants/needs. And perhaps he is trying to be polite in not pressuring you for more. Anyhow you should be thankful he is masturbating and not getting some elsewhere.....
