Why do Greeks try so desperately to deny the existence of Macedonia?

Greeks say that Macedonian people are Greek and descended from Greeks and a bunch of other crap. I just want to know why they try to deny our existensce. Are they threatened by us? This topic should be very fun.

You probably don't know what the Greeks and the international community say! (Of course the Greeks don’t deny the existence of real Macedonia since it is in... Greece!)
Let’s start from the beginning! Your country’s constitutional name is Makedonija (and no one had ever questioned your name!!). And it is inhabited by a population consist by various ethnic groups such as Slavs (Slav-Macedonians), Albanian (Albanian- Macedonians), Bulgarians, Turks, and even Greeks.
Real Macedonia (do not confuse it with the Slavic state) or Macedon as we all know is a Greek region (in proper Greek “Mακεδονία”) it is actually one of the biggest regions of Greece and it has played a most significant part in Greek history! (The real Macedonia or Macedon in Greece was an ancient Greek kingdom and it was the birth place of Alexander the Great!
Alexander created a gigantic Greek empire and he is responsible for the spreading of Greek civilization around the world!)
The state, which is called Republic of Makedonija, decided to use as an international name the Greek name Macedonia and of course that caused and still is causing confusion with real Macedonia in Greece!
Greece has objected the use of the Greek name Macedonia (for international use only) and especially against the strange territorial claims that appear from some nationalists of Makedonija (Slav-Macedonia).
United Nations and European Union (and not the Greeks) has forced the state of Makedonija to negotiate with Greece in order to reach to an acceptable name for international use (and only for the international use). Nobody has ever asked you to chance your name Makedonija! {Republika Makedonija is officially translated and recognized by UN and European Union) as Former Ygoslavic Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and that is the official name for international use.}
The international name of a state is decided by international laws, international agreements and treaties between states, under the authority of United Nations! No one can choose what ever name he likes for international use!
An example is what happened to Austria! After the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and from 1918 it was known as the Republic of German-Austria (Republik Deutsch-Österreich). Within one year and after several objections from the allies the state was forced to change its name to "Republic of Austria" in 1919 by the peace Treaty of Saint-Germain!
After the war every state in the world that wishes to enter the United Nations had to make sure that its international name isn’t violating the interest of any other country and is not against international law!
This is mandatory for every civilized country in the world!
This is the case for Makedonija. It can use its own name (Makedonija) but for international use it has to follow the UN resolutions!
The funny (and scary think ) is that because that state (Makedonija) uses the Greek name Macedonia some of the Slav-Macedonians (some of the Slav inhabitants only and not the Albanians of the Makedonija) actually believe that they are the real Macedonians and that they are not Slavs! (And even some of them express extreme racist remarks against the Slavic nation!!)
This of course is against their country’s policy and they violate their government’s constant efforts for stability in a dangerous area!
I have to support the constant effort from the Slavic-Macedonia government against the nationalist and fascistic groups that damage their country.
Here are some official statements from the Government of FYROM (Makedonija or Slavic-Macedonia) and they answer the allegations of the fanatics.
Above all the first President of FYROM (Slav- Macedonia, Makedonija), Kiro Gligorov in a desperate attempt to isolate the fanatics said: “We are Slavs who came to this area in the sixth century ... we are not descendants of the ancient Macedonians" (Foreign Information Service Daily Report, Eastern Europe, February 26, 1992, p. 35). Also, Mr Gligorov declared clearly and wit a firm voice: "We are Macedonians but we are Slav Macedonians. That's who we are! We have no connection to Alexander the Greek and his Macedonia… Our ancestors came here in the 5th and 6th century" (Toronto Star, March 15, 1992).
On 24 February 1999, in an interview with the Ottawa Citizen, Gyordan Veselinov, FYROM'S (Slav-Macedonia, Makedonija) Ambassador to Canada, clearly stated:"We are not related to the northern Greeks who produced leaders like Philip and Alexander the Great. We are Slav people and our language is closely related to Bulgarian." He also commented, “There is some confusion about the identity of the people of my country".
On 22 January 1999, Ambassador of the FYROM (Slav-Macedonia, Makedonija) to USA, Ljubica Achevska gave a speech on the present situation in the Balkans. In answering questions at the end of her speech Mrs. Acevshka said: "We do not claim to be descendants of Alexander the Great … Greece is Macedonia’s second largest trading partner, and its number one investor. Instead of opting for war, we have chosen the mediation of the United Nations, with talks on the ambassadorial level under Mr. Vance and Mr. Nemitz." In reply to another question about the ethnic origin of the people of FYROM (Slav-Macedonia, Makedonija), Ambassador Achevska stated that "we are Slavs and we speak a Slav language”.
Moreover, the Foreign Minister of the FYROM (Slav-Macedonia, Makedonija), Slobodan Casule, in an interview to Utrinski Vesnik of Skopje on December 29, 2001, said that he mentioned to the Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, Solomon Pasi, that they "belong to the same Slav people.”
That’s why you can not use (for international use) the Greek name Macedonia! Your country’s policy is that! Of course your name “Makedonija” was never questioned! Your ethnicity was never questioned either!!
Next time make sure that you have read the official statements from your country!
I do wish the best for the efforts of FYR-Macedonia (Slavic-Macedonia) against the few fanatics (few Slav-Macedonians and Slav -Albanians) that compromise the stability of the state!

Hello dear!
We have to distinguish between the people and the politicians and the politicians to patriots and the ones placed by the superpowers!
Since FYROM is a small and new state, some people have found the ground to gain some power and rule! Now, I wonder why the free thinking people residing in FYROM still listen to them and don't see what is good for them!
As everyone knows, people united have nothing to fear! Thus, the Greek people have already invested and are investing in developing business in FYROM. Also, Greeks are supporting the newly established state (after the strategic moves of Stalin and Tito), in the international fora, including the EU, NATO, etc.
So, the Greeks are not denying the existence of a group of people but Greeks should see FYROM as a little kid who does not really know what is good for it and shouts all the time!
As you know, FYROM, your state, does not have the power to survive alone, neither to threaten someone else! Greece knows that and that is why there are incentives to invest in your country! If Greeks were denying the existence of FYROM all these were not going to exist and when Milosevic proposed to split your state into two and each state take half, Greece refused such plan! SO, before you cry, think if you feel any pain and when you attack, think who is your enemy!

This is one of the reasons that Europe will never work , as people are unable to see the bigger picture and its problems , only local ones . If people want to blame others , then start with politicians and political parties , as most politicians have been and still are incompetent , and political parties do not represent citizens and all need to be made legally accountable for their decisions and actions for life .

Really why Greek afraid of one "Slavs small state"?Because they killed Macedonians in 1946. Macedonians are Macedonians, they are not Slavs. Slavs people are very nice and have big scientist, where is Now days Greek scientist. ?This fact show us that Ancient Greek haven't nothing with Now days Greek. Real Macedonian proud with this name and nobody forbidden to use name Macedonia. Macedonia like Alexander Macedonian respected neighbors and others foreigners cultures, and they always was Liberal, also Macedonian have never been fascist. Biggest Fascism is to give own self right forbidden name of other country like Greece.Do you hear about new Terrorist Fascist Greek Organization against Macedonia, I don't scare of them, they can killed us again, but Truth come, god is Truth and Love.
