why does a person's cheek swell up when they have a toothache?

when your tooth hurts your gums swell and some times the bacteria causing your tooth ache can spread to the inner cheek. bacteria spreads it doesn't matter where it is.

it is not the cheek that swells, its actuallly the infected gum.
