Sorry the answer isn't something weird, just practical.

It gets rainy and snowy after labor day. The mud splashes on white clothes and makes it look bad and is hard to clean.

Also, white blends in with snow and you can get lost.

I'm not so sure it's based on 'fashion' as much as practicality. While classified and 'unwritten' rule of fashion, the truth is that white is a heat-reflecting color, and so is suitable for spring and summer months, but inefficient for staying warm in the fall and winter.

That is old fashioned advise. You can wear whatever you want and whenever you want to. My mother that is 91 now has told me that she used to follow that rule when she was in her 30's and 40's.

It was about the weather, but it's not really a rule anymore. It is a rule that you should dress appropriately for the weather, but only in certain social situations. Don't worry about it.

lol I never followed that rule! I would never follow fashion rules..I like wearing what I want, when I want to. I have my own sense of style..you should have your own too...its fun!
