Adolf Hitler stayed in power for more than a dozen years so don't get your hopes up that Bush/Cheney/Rumsfield are going anytime soon! Republicans are happy to be in power, they truly expect Bush to stand up for them, no matter what, he has an odd charm that disarms the credulous cretins who tend to hold power.

Corporations run this country, Bush is just a well connected player with name recognition. Cheney and Rumsfeld both have long standing ties to corporations that influence public policy. Halliburton and combined defense and support corporations control our government and armed forces.

Because we have a system that works.
Because we don't answer to a seditious minority that would undermine our elected leaders on the basis of "guilty until proven innocent" which is why President Clinton wasn't impeached.
Because the majority is still in charge rather than special interests.
