If it is a baby mexican black king, they are safe & commonly kept as pets.

How do you KNOW that it is a Mexican black king?

If it actually is a king snake, they are not poisonous to my knowledge. If you keep it as a pet, I would have it vet checked immediately. Wild caught reptiles are often infested with ticks, mites and other issues that can be difficult to deal with.

If you want a snake so bad, go buy a captive bred one. I don't really think you'd like to be captured and kept as someones pet, would you?

I would not keep a wild cought snake , reason is because they harbor mites and can also be very finky eaters, may not ever eat for you. remember you will have too feed it live mice or rats,or hampsters ,not frozen because this snake is used to hunting alive animals. Just let it go and go to nearest pet shop , and buy one, also get a book about raiseing snakes as well.

Mexican black kings are harmless. It's probably an escaped pet. If actually looking to buy one myself. You can check out some care sheets for kingsnakes on line. here are some good ones. Most kings have similar care requirements

It best to release it to the wild. Let it have its freedom and find its group of other snakes and be happy.
