He is 4 years old, had a hemrroid that is now clearing up. I now have him on a high fiber diet, so his stool is soft but he still will go a day or two without a bowel movement. I don't understand why he isn't p**ping every day now. He is eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and and some proteins. I thought by now he would be more regular.

Hows the childs water intake? you might try increasing his water intake, and apple juice works well in helping to eliminate stools also watermelon is a good source for stool elimination, but give early enough in the day, lunch time, before 4`o`clock in eve, so he won`t have to get up to wet throughout the night. hope it improves.

have you taken him to a medical professional? it is not neccessarilly abnormal not to have a bowel movement everyday. not everyone is the same. what ever you do do not give him laxatives as he can become dependant on them. everyone has their own rhythms at which their bodies dispose of wastes. the hemhorrhoids can be caused by straining to push out hard stool, it sounds like you have a good routine and good diet for him. do not forget the water. do not obsess but continue to monitor his stool and use the natural things like prunes, grapes, rasins, oranges and avoid rice , bananas and cheese.

Look at his diet... Try cutting out the carbs.... Could be a glucose allergy. If he clears up, then you'll have to put him on a carb-reduced diet. Carbs will constipate some even after just one slice of white bread or a couple crackers.

some people don't poop all the time
normal adults range from 3 times a day to once every two or three days. 4 yr olds may do it more often than adults.

Feed him grapes too they help control stool too

He's not eating properly, If he was older I'd say try a colon cleanse that will make you go at least once a day. I'm not sure what the minimum age is for it.

Why don't you try an alternate medicine, like Ayurveda? For best treatment in Ayurveda, come to Kerala, in India, if you can afford.

If you havn't already, I'd say see your pediatrician. it could be a sign of something more serious.

Keep him on a healthy diet. lots of fruits, veggies and such. and I think more protein might help.

You might have him tested for Celiac desease. His intestines may not tolerate wheat and gluten products.
