John Reid,Thank goodness we have, at long last got a MAN! and a politician, worth his salt,
and who is prepared to make himself unpopular among the smug incompetent people at the home office, and to sort out the utter shambles left by his predecessors. In my book he is a diamond in a sea of mire: My only fear is that he will be moved because he has ruffled too many feathers, We need more people of John Reids ilk in goverment, not a bunch of namby pamby yes men!

I am behind with UK news. I assume Charles "scrotum-chin" Clarke got moved sideways because of the debacle setting free the illegal immigrants?

I don't know what John Reid has done, but if he is risking being unpopular and is ruffling feathers, then good for him! He is doing something that politicians have been too spineless to do for years. I remember he gave Paxman a good savaging a few years back, that was a laugh. And the Home Office probably needs a firm hand.

Politicians should be risking unpopularity - the grinning idiot Blair thinks politics is a popularity contest and threw awaya huge mandate in his attempts to appear matey, whilst enforcing a police state.

That said, if John Reid is pushing through ID cards then I take everything back! (Typical, eh?)

John Reid is a good Home Secretary who has started in a robust way, but i believe the Home Office is too big for one man. A total rehaul of the Home Office is reneeded and this is not a whinge about Messrs Clarke, Blunkett and Straw. The Home Office does too much
