Probably because you are black. Seriously, though, read up on some Cornell West. Race Matters, while a bit abstract and unfocused at times, is a good read. Do you know what tokenism is? I'll give you three hints: Michael Steele (from my home state), Barak Obama, and Clarence Thomas. I am not saying that you are not entitled to your preferences and beliefs, but...read Race Matters. Hey good call to the guy who mentioned "slave to your party". It does sound like you need to research candidates more, and stop listening to you parents so much.

It could be for a various reasons: If your black or Latin, then the people around you are most likely, not necessarily, but most likely to be a democrat. This is due to certain benefits and so on that i cannot discuss right here. The best advice is to get educated on why you vote what you vote and stand up to your beliefs. Let your voice be heard but never forget to be wise!

Because people are stupid and ignorant - bottom line, and I vote democrat. You be you. If you believe in the Republican party, then stick with them, just please, understand why you vote one way and not another. Have info. I'm sure you do, but some people come on here & don't have a clue.

The smartest people vote for the politician they own.
The next best thing is being a switch voter who strategically votes for the group or individual with the best offer.
Only chumps slavishly devote themselves to a single party unconditionally.
Both parties are not particularly loyal to their constituents, they do the minimum to get the maximum votes.

Do you really go around telling people how you voted?
Really honestly truly?
What kind of life you got where you discuss how you vote?
If somebody asked me how I voted.
Which rarely happens except possibly, maybe, the day after an election.
I tell them...
"that's for me to know and for you to find out."
or
"How do you think I voted?"
People that know you probably have pretty good idea of how you would vote anyway.
Are you fishing for "poor babies"?

Because they don't think you have a right to your own opinion ? Or maybe because if you vote you are being Democratic, and they just feel like arguing.

Because it gives the impression you likely don't take the time to decide upon a candidate based on his/her credentials and political stance ... instead opting to blindly vote based solely on party name.

Because by saying that you let them know that you're a pathetic slave to your party. Have fun getting your opinion fed to you by Rush after he pops some more pills and tells you it's good to send your kids of to war.
**** you!
