also can a 318 pull a bobcat and trailer without totally killing the motor and trans

If its got a 318 its not a 3/4 ton well it could be if someone swapped the engine.

does it have an i-d badge on the fender. It would say something like "ram 150 or 100". Put it like this. If the number is a 100 it is a half ton, 200= 3/4 ton, 300= 1 ton. If it has 5 lug wheels it is automaticaly a 1/2 ton. 8 lug wheels could be either 3/4 or 1 ton. Or check the GVW rating on the door placard, call a Dodge dealer and have them tell you what it is. Call the Dodge dealer with the VIN number, that will also tell you what it is.

Usually they had larger hubs sticking out of the tire rims on the back axle.
