if its an aim issue, point to where you want the puck to go in your follow through. Also, when you line up, set the puck slightly to your front, like off your front skate.
Hit an inch in front of the puck INTO the ground. Of course, practice practice.

First off, anyone judging a player by his slapshot doesn't know the game of hockey. A slapshot doesn't mean anything if you can't make tape-to-tape passes, play defense, and play good positional hockey.
To be honest, the best way to get a better slapshot is to ask your coach, and if you have no coach, ask the guy on your team with the best slapshot to give you pointers. There are a lot of resources on the web and in books, but there is nothing like someone over your shoulder making sure your dynamics are sound.

it is important to have some muscle to have a good slapshot, however it is not everything. you must also have good stick speed. this happens through practice and weight transfer. start the shot by driving with your back foot by the end of your shot your momentum should be moving forward onto your front leg. also make sure you aren't leaning too much or too little over the ball/puck. i also agree that you should talk to coaches or teammates about it. maybe they can pick up on something you are doing wrong.

You're probably trying to hit the ball. Aim about 2 to 3 inches behind the ball so you get some good whip action going on your stick. Same for ice hockey.

Practice, practice, practice. Find a tennis court and hit the puck/ball into the fence. Try different grips to see what works for you.
Also I've found wrist curls work wonders for this.
