This is a tough question I've been pondering.

Maximus Decimus became a General of the most dominating empire in the history of the world, lost it all, and regained everything back. He went from Soldier-Slave-Gladiator-Hero. William Wallace was a farmer who also lost his family. He raised an army and was just a crazy lunatic who was outnumbered. However he did his damage on the world.

And lets leave Chuck Norris out of this...we all know that he is deadly...

I messed up and closed the last one...

Maximus Decimus-- because of the reasons you already stated, and because the movie was better.

Ok, let's look at this logically:

1. William Wallace had education, Maximus had experience.
2. Wallace had followers who desired freedom, Maximus' followers were in it for the raping and pillaging.
3. Wallace had the future Queen of England barking like a dog, Maximus was celibate after his wife and son were kiilled.
4. Wallace was born in Scotland in 1280 something, Maximus was born in Rome in the like 3rd century, so Wallace would not have a hard time kicking a 1,000 year old corpse's butt.

William Wallace would so win. Wallace is more resourceful. You can give him anything and he'll win with it. Also he's a great general. He knows how to win and how to lead men. Wallace will trick Maximus into thinking he wins and william will pull out the victory with the sneak attack.

All you have to do is take away Maximus' sword. And he's a regular man. William Wallace is a legend.

William Wallace would not give up even if Maximus cut & stabbed into him. Wallace would pull the sword deeper into his body just to get close enough to Maximus to rip out his throat!

Loved both movies btw but Wallace is a bit more savage!
Yes Maximus has the training but it all comes down to heart!

Wallace. His style of guerilla warfare would take Maximus by surprise. I am seeing something like the battle scene from the Last Samurai where Maximus puts ona a full frontal attack releasing the hounds of hell and Wallace counters with a retreat so as to out flank Maximuse and put him in the killing box. Of course this is somewhat dependant on the terrain. Folliage favors Wallace. Mountains favor Maximus. In hand to hand combat though maximus would gut Wallace like a stuck pig, fillet him like a flounder and serve him to his dogs. No contest.

Maximus of route. Sir William Wallace changed into no man or woman if no longer for the adult adult males who rallied in the back of him. If the military of Bravehearters were no longer there or no longer unswerving, there does no longer were a scotland.... Maximus on the otherhand fought a bloody gory conflict over and once extra, and his very last one changed into his acceptable wrestle.maximus fought for existence and demise time-honored. Wallace only fought some battles over an prolonged era of time.

Maximus Decimus for the reasons you've mentioned, the movie was better and he was more cunning as far strategic warfare goes. William Wallace was just what you said he was a freakin' lunatic.
