*Under what conditions would I need to abstain?*
You shouldn't have sex if you have any of the following conditions or symptoms:
• Placenta previa
• Premature labor in this pregnancy (even if it has stopped)
• Unexplained vaginal bleeding or discharge
• Abdominal cramping
• Cervical insufficiency
• A dilated cervix
• Ruptured membranes (your water has broken)
• You or your partner has an outbreak of genital herpes or feel one coming on. Also avoid intercourse and other genital contact for the entire third trimester if your partner has a history of genital herpes (and you don't), even if he has no sores or symptoms. The same applies to receiving oral sex if he has oral herpes (cold sores).
• Other sexually transmitted infections (unless you and your partner have been treated and follow-up testing was negative)
There are other situations in which your healthcare practitioner may advise you to not to have sex. For example, if you had a spontaneous preterm birth in a previous pregnancy, she will probably advise you to stop having sex at some point during this pregnancy, and possibly for the whole pregnancy until you reach 37 weeks.
Whatever your situation, don't be shy about talking about sex with your practitioner. If she has advised you not to have sex, be sure you understand whether she's just talking about intercourse, or about putting anything in your vagina, or about any activity that may bring you to orgasm. (Orgasm can cause mild uterine contractions, as can nipple stimulation and the prostaglandins in semen.)
And, of course, if you notice any unusual symptoms during or following intercourse, such as pain or discharge, be sure to let your practitioner know. If you can't have sex, don't despair: You can still kiss, give each other long massages, and share your feelings for each other.
(If it is painful then do NOT have sex!! Common sense. Your horny husband should def. understand. Sex is what got you pregnant in the first place, haven't you had enough to give yourself a little break? Sheesh, close the legs for a while. LOL. Not being rude).

No, I doubt it. Your baby is very well protected in layers. You should lay off a little bit though and ask your doc at the next appt. b/c you don't want to be doing damage to yourself. Your doc will let you know the most likely cause for the pain.

no you are not damaging your baby... you may experience pain due to dryness in your vagina which is very common during pregnancy. If you experience any bleeding however you should stop and call your doctor immediately. This is not necessarily a sign of miscarriage but it is better to call the doc on the safe side.

Its always possible you could be causing your baby pain, your baby does feel what you feel. Also if somethign hurts it is always best to stop because there is a reason it is hurting. Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong. It is best to seek professional medical advice. Also I am pregnant and sex can be harmful for a bay, for those who are saying its okay. I am not allowed to have sex for the rest of my pregnancy because it CAN cause harm to me and my baby. Having sex all the way through pregnancy DOESN"T work for everyone.

No, as your baby is already form into a foetus. There is no course of alarm.
But if the intercourse is painful, you should let your husband know, I am sure he will understand.

What kind of pain is it??? It is pretty doubtful that you'd do any damage, especially at only 12 weeks.

Painful why? If you're bleeding internally, probably yes. If you're experiencing discomfort due to size/lubrication...probably not.
Remember, the more information you put in a question, the better it will get answered!

If sex is painful during pregnancy then you need to stop. You should talk to your dr about it at your next appt. He/She may be able to help you. Its better to be safe than sorry.
~Sometimes during pregnancy you need to try different sexual postions to be comfortable. You may also need to use lubricant. Just some suggestions.
