I am pretty sure my friend has contracted the HIV virus. She has become very ill the past few months and lost a lot of weight without reason. She is a premiscuous person which leads me to think this way. I think she is trying to hide the truth from me in fear that I will look at her differently. How do I approach the subject without offending her???? I could be wrong.......

Does it matter if she tells you? Does it really matter if you're right? If so, why? If you want to know so badly, then maybe she isn't wrong about you. She will tell you if she wants to, until then, it is none of your business until she decides it is.

Ask her to accompany you to a hospital as you have been thinking for a long time that you need to get tested for HIV and that you are afraid of going alone. If she buys your story and accompanies you suggest that she also get tested. You will be counselled at the hospital before and after the results.

In my opinion you would be out of line to inquire of that issue. If she appears to be sickly on a daily basis, as a friend you could suggest the possibility of her seeking medical help. This might open the door to other conversation and her confiding in you in some form to verify your beliefs.........
