I listened to a lot of tupac growing up. ( amoung other things) I am a good person now, but I was a troublesome teen.

To be an artist you do reflect apart of life, so I can understand it in that perspective. I have no prejadicies. And I make myself not hate some people... People are just wasting their lives...

The reason I was a troublesome teen is not because of rap... Eminem is the only rap artist that distinctively says that he is going to hell... I do not listen to music all that much anymore. I'd rather think my own thoughts. And that is the problem with Gangsta Rap. People need to put other things into their minds to grow off of...

Because its easy to make money just talking over a beat. This is perhaps one of the greater problems that plauges our society and effectively dumbs down the literacy and speech of today's youth. Yes, there are prime examples of these rap artists actually reflecting part of their lives when they perform and create. Yet a large majority still adapts to the social norm, where they objectify women and constantly brag about monetary gain and violent acts. Many rappers have already died because of their social status and influence. It is truly hard to say whether rap is good or not. While many will say that it is entertainment and enjoyable to listen to, I personally find it to be degrading to what is left of society and social values.

I like hip hop and r&b music and some rap but for the beat. I know there are alot of young people that do listen to this music and really pay attention to the lyrics and yea I do totally agree with you it does disrupt lives. Unfortuntely there is not much people can do about it. i guess the only thing we can do is hope that these teens turn out like you in the end and find life outside of these songs,

Marilyn Manson was a catholic school boy poser. I don't think anything from his music reflects any part of his life. It's money and entertainment that drive people to make music. Eminem is a white boy who grew up in the suburbs.. You think 8 mile was a true story?....It's called lying to get fame and money... You weren't a Child who listened to "corrupted" music and became troubled.. You were just a troubled Child who Listened to "corrupted" music. I bet you are one of those people who think Video Games corrupts Children. Even though there have been hundreds of studies that proves it has no effect. Maybe..Just Maybe..Its the parents lack of involvement in a children's life... But who wants to blame the parents.. They just raise and teach their children. They are only the first positive/negative role models in their lives.. I'm surrrrrre that has nothing to do with it.

It meets some sort of human need. I do not get it, but it must give something to a segment of our population or it would not sell so well.

When ever there is a human need, if it is great enough, it will be capitalized on, whether or not we look down our noses and shake our finger at it. Its the price we pay for living in a free society.

Instead of condemning it, maybe we need to understand what need it fills, and see if that need can't be met with a more positive response.
