what is the logic behind a shape shifter?

Well you can't... But if you culd it would mean that you would tear you body down into shreads, therefore you would die, therefore, yes, it would change the way you think... you wouldn't think any more. ;)

Shape shifters would either change their skin pigment or their features without changing their atomic structure.... I can't really say how the second happens, but I did see a dicumentary about a man in the 1950s in the US that could change his eye colour, skin tone, hair, body wait, features... They explained that it was cause by a mental condition that he had... I am not really buying it, but lateley, nothing wonders me...

The human brain only uses a minimal portion of it's cells and total capacity, so theoretically you could shrink it down a lot and still posses the same thoughts, if you were to throw out only the unused brain cells.

But if you wanted to be something like a hawk, you would not be able to fly since you don't have the learned knowledge of how to do it.

Shape shifting is fantasy.

That only works in comic books like The Amazing Spider-man. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way in The Incredible Hulk. (You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.)
