Under the current circumstances (war in the Middle East)… should the United States reconsider drilling for oil in the Artic National Wildlife Refuge or invest in renewable technologies (like solar and wind energy) to keep America’s lights on and cars moving?

You are right, we must seek for many resources and do not expect oil is going to help us for a long long time, in fact that's what am I studying in my university Energy Engineering and I wish to travel to Deutschland or Netherland to get knowledge to use eolic power to generate electricity on poor countries, as your country does on some state, does'n it?
And not only solar or wiond, that inlcudes biomass, or on some carls corn oil or Hydrogen can help us so much more, so better keep the resources we have and do not cry later for the lacking of this after. One thing you can do is improving your home making it ant intellingent home, collecting the raindrops use it later to your garden, use other sort of windows that may use more the ray of the sun to warm your house instead of using heating, saving some bucks for hard times.

Period.
