Okay, so I made the mistake of going outside barefoot. I stepped on something. It stung REALLY bad--like a bee sting, but twenty times worse. I don't know what I stepped on. I looked and saw nothing, put ice on it. I've been using Chortisone cream, applied ice, taking an antihistamine, and even tried a baking soda paste. I'm out of remedies. This thing itches so bad it's driving me nuts. It has also swollen slightly and is red. The red is not just around the bottom of my foot, but has gone up the side a little ways. Do I just have to give it time? Any ways to make it stop itching? Any ideas what it was? (I live in Wisconsin, if that helps you think of a type of insect it might have been.) Why does it itch so much more than any other insect sting I've ever had in my life? Is it possible it's infected? I don't have a fever or anything else. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you for all of the advice. There is no drainage. The redness isn't so much a streak, as a patch.

Wet meat tenderizer, use it as a paste on your wound. It was a wasp.

First of all, ask God to curse it be the root of that cause of itching, and dry it up and be no more in Jesus name amen. Next you might want to go to the doctor and let him check it out, only just to see what it is. If he describes a drug to you, don't take it, it will only make you probably worse. My advice is that you go to a natural organic store and purchase some garlic, it only cost .30 at my store. Take a piece of garlic, and peal it. Then cut it in some pieces with a knife, then rub it on your itching foot. You can wear it in your soaks too. But wash your foot in the morning and at night and change your soaks at least once a day. You can also purchase garlic powder, which is easier to use or both if you want. Garlic is anti-fugal and much more. Also you can buy some teatree peppermint all natural itch creme. It will get better eventually. God bless.

It sounds like a wasp. Itching is usually a sign of healing. I use Benadryl Anti-Itch stick. It works GREAT!!! I purchased it recently for $1.89 and it is worth every penny. Works on insect bites and everything.

Make a paste with water and baking soda, it should take away the itching, my mom is a nurse and its what she always used on us. It could be a spider bite, I got bit by a wolf spider and reacted the same way. The paste helped.

I just learned this home remedy from my cousin. In a bottle of rubbing alcohol, place 20 aspirins (not Tylenol or Advil) and shake until they dissolve. Using a cottonball, rub onto the bite. Do not use if the bite is open or the alcohol will sting it. (Disclaimer: make sure that there are no signs of infection or allergic reaction and always check with your doctor if you suspect anything.)

If you have a red streak going up your leg then you need to be seen rather quickly. It can be that you have cellulitise. It's an infection. My daughter has that happen when she gets stung by mosquitoes. It can get in your blood stream and make you really sick. Red streaks are not a good sign.

It sounds like a spider bite, and you should get it checked out by a doctor as soon as possible.A brown recluse or fiddle back spider bite is serious because the venom from the bite will eat into your skin and spread. We have these spiders in Michigan too,and I have see the results of these bites.

You probably are having an allergic reaction to whatever that stung you or to any of the medications you took. I highly recommend see a dermatologist for this problem or if you want a fast answer then go to an E.R.
