Unless you are an exempt employee, the law as stated by the Department of Labor at http://www.dol.gov/esa/regs/compliance/whd/whdfs23.htm is:

Unless specifically exempted, employees covered by the Act must receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek at a rate not less than time and one-half their regular rates of pay. There is no limit in the Act on the number of hours employees aged 16 and older may work in any workweek. The Act does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest, as such.

However, I think you are considered exempt from this law if the company says you are; most 'salaried workers - as opposed to hourly workers - are considered exempt.

Were you hired as an hourly employee (i.e. $15/hour) or by the year (i.e. $31,500/year)?

Go to labour relations they should help you .. otherwise talk to a lawyer.

I worked at a job where they didnt pay you overtime. instead they " banked" it.
So if in a 40 hr week you worked 48hrs .. that extra 8 hours would be given to you at a later date... say you wanted a day off...or got sick.. well that was your pay for the day.
My OT hours built up to a point one time that I was able to take 2 weeks off and get paid my full wage for it.
There may be a case too...like my new job .. I am considered full time but I do not work 40 hrs a week.. I work from 26-40. only after I hit the 40 hr mark do I get overtime.
Talk to the boss or the accountant of where you work.. they may be able to give you an explaination of why they dont pay overtime.. If you are not satisfied with that then go to labour relations or to a lawyer.

yea this is very against the law. Look up labor laws in your state on the web. I advise you to see a lawyer.
