I like to know what's going on....about every month I've had too much of the media truths and lies so I'll refrain for about a week....then I go at it again...

Constant exposure to news, especially news of our wonderful Right - Wing leadership out to save us from ourselves 'cause we poor independent thinkers don't know no better, can be a downer, especially hearing about our uphill battle in Iraq, the continuing horror stories from the aftermath of Katrina, & the possibility that we might attack Iran next. & stories about Dubbya's incompetence & Right - Wing hypocracy almost everyday or every other day. What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, or CAN make us stronger.

But we also need to hear the news & not bury our heads in the sand or cloister ourselves away from the truth. There has to be a happy medium in there somewhere. I was enthralled by the news from the recent STS mission to the Space Station, & one station had almost 24 - hour coverage of the Dicovery mission. Loved IT !! Like I said, there MUST be a happy medium between staying plugged in to the news despite the depression factor, & avoiding the news like he Plague.

I have spent the whole day looking at images of romantic, idealised images of war and warriors from ancient days. But I rarely spend a day of escapism. I do think you can become too caught up in these things. It's important to know what's going on, and to care, and to do what you can to help. But if you take it too much inside yourself, it'll drive you crazy. If it isn't hard to watch, you have no heart, but if you don't watch, you're a coward. Sometimes if you're a decent human being, it's really, really hard.

Of course I do. I read three newspapers a day, watch two different newscasts - one local, one national and keep up with current events in a politics newsgroup I belong to.

Well the only news station a half-way trust (half-way mind you) is FOX News, and I don't get that channel anymore, so I stick pretty much to local news and the internet.

I am a news junkie. It is funny cause I get all these channels and my remote just goes from FOX NEWS to CNN to MSNBC to ONN and then repeat.

too hard to watch? that's a horrible excuse?

you have to know what's going on... that's why we have so many horrible politicians now... because people don't know what they are doing..
