I just came back from a trip to Prince George (from Vancouver) along the old highway (through Hell's Gate etc). When we came up the highway from Vancouver we noticed a huge white cross way above the highway, on top of a mountain/cliff, just outside of Hope (after Hope not before).
I was thinking it was the site of a plane crash/helicopter crash but the only one I can find in recent years was the drug-run-gone bad that happened in Oct of 2005. The time fits but not the place seens as the crash site for that accident was on the edge of town and the cross is on a cliff way farther outside of town. The most recent plane crash was in like '56 and the cross hasn't been there that long.
I was wondering if anyone knows the reason the cross was placed there? Crash, suicide, some other symbolic reason?

It just recently appeared though...like in the past few years. And Hope has been there WAY longer. It's also not in Hope, it's outside of town. I'll do what Jenny says and see what comes up.

The Hope slide area is on the new highway not the old one...I know I initially thought that's what it was too but nope.
There was a crash about a week ago that killed a man in that general area but that was a road accident and this this was a massive cross way ontop of the cliff not a small roadside memorial type...hence why I thought airplane or chopper.
And yes this was most definately was a cross...you can see it about 10 minutes away when you are coming around the bend, it's that big lol.
