as our mind is very fickle, it's difficult to concentrate whilre praying, if we don't close our eyes, and try to focus with whom we are getting in sync with. may be it's allah, lord ganesha, or jesus. but i have also tried to pray in the morning, it's my own prayer, to thank god for showing me another day in my life. i also pray for the energy of the sun to flow into me, and pray that the day ahead will be good. for this purpose, i keep my eyes open. but at night, i close my eyes while praying, as it is the end of that particular day, and i ask for every body's welfare, and forgiveness.

I think most people pray with their eyes closed if only to make it more private. It' s easier to focus and "see" what you are praying about too. But you can pray with your eyes open as well. Sometimes I pray when I'm driving, you wouldn't want to keep your eyes closed then.
Prayer is just talking to God. However it works best for you it how you should do it. The important thing is to pray.

Sometimes, I do and sometimes I don't. There are special times of especially ferverent prayer where I want to medidate on the word of God and get my focus off of everything around me. Those are precious times indeed. Closing my eyes, helps me to focus totally on Him. There are definitely times to pray with my eyes open - like while driving and almost getting in an accident and needing grace. I also keep my eyes open while praying and working, while praying and taking care of family, while praying and taking care of meals, etc....There's no real right or wrong way to pray, but I find that those times when I can close my eyes are special because it tunes out the world and helps me tune into Him.

Like the others, sometimes yes and no. Just depends on whats going on around you, if your home or at work......
There is a time I dont close my eyes......when I'm shocked at something someone says thats really offensive and mean....to keep from stooping to their level and have a bad feeling for this person, you can just pray for them, right there!!!! Cause, sometimes people say really ugly things, you just really wonder WHY someone would say something so wrong and disrespectful.

Well it depends on what I`m doing while praying, like when I`m driving my car, I watch and pray, but at church ,and at home, I`ll usually pray with my eyes closed so I can shut out things or people who might distract my mind from concentrating on God.

Yes, I close my eyes. It just helps me stay focused more. But then again, I don't pray all that much. Not really sure what I believe right now.

if i feel like it when you pray you should only be thinking about god and praying not whether your eyes are open or closed its easier to concentrate for me with my eyes closed.

Generally I keep my eyes closed. It helps me focus and concentrate on my daily devotions. It makes me feel closer to God, I feel like I get transported to a diff. place that allows me to be closer to Him. But either way, it doesn't matter, as long as you communicate with God. If I'm in real need, I close my eyes more as opposed to day to day prayers (Hail Mary, etc.)

NO! I think God can hear me just fine whether I'm looking at a happy face here on my office walls or just picturing the happy face on my wall with my eyes closed. As long as I'm prayin' ...he's listening..(he told me! )he!he!
