if purchase hp color inkjet printer and comes with color cartlidge must I buy the black cart. to print text?

Hi there:
It would help to IDENTIFY the HP model. Some HPs use only
ONE cart, either the colour, OR the Black. The Colour Carts
print black by layering all three colours, the Yellow, then the
red, then the BLUE on thick, so the resulting colour is BLACK.
This gives you Very high quality black, but uses a LOT of ink.
If you do a great deal of BLACK AND WHITE text print, you
then take out the colour cart, and put in a Black cart that is
3 times as big ( as any single colour).
SOME, HP printers can use colour only, and the black is in
a separate bay, as an option, as might be a black and light blue, and light red to give you 6 'colours" or photo quality.
IFF the printer ships with only a single cart, colour, then you
can print anything, including black and white - I do not know of any printer, NEW, that will not print without having you buy another cart. Some printers ship with ONLY BLACK, so that
you have to buy a colour cart to print any colour, but these
printers are clearly labelled as such.

Some printers, with both the colour and the Black cart installed,
actually cheat a bit and print BLACK, set at high quality, with
a layer of BLUE, with a layer of BLACK on top, which results in
a darker, crisper " BLACK" than " BLACK " alone, and some
printers, again, on the highest quality setting, use all 4 'colours',
yellow, red, blue AND black, to make black lettering.

The typical computer user is unaware of these differences, and
the documentation rarely tells the user about these printing differences.

whenever u purchase a printer it comes with black and color cartridges by default, if u hadnt got the black means.. purchase it coz using of color cartridge cost is high compare to black one. we can take a text print using color cartridges therez no problem in that but the cost will be higher comparably.

That's strange I would verify if the black ink is part of the package, HP always provides both if the printer can handle color and black
